Get to know: Coach Sophie

How would you describe your coaching style and the way you connect with your players?

Sophie: I’d say I’m pretty fun & upbeat. I’m still quite young, so I connect to the players well through being a similar age. Closer to the players age than Coach Henry 🙂

If you could have a theme song play every time you walk onto the court, what would it be?

Sophie: Tennis Court - Flume Remix

What is a highlight of your coaching journey so far?

Sophie: Working with other coaches, and helping kids transition through the Hotshots programme. I’m especially proud of Jayden who’s really progressed well over the last year I’ve been coaching him.

What do you like the most about being a part of the Tennis Life team?

Sophie: How everybody is so friendly and we all get along and we do stuff outside of work together as well.

When you're not on court, what's something you like to do in your spare time?

Sophie: I’m studying to be a vet nurse so I like working in a clinic with animals in my spare time.

Who would be in your dream doubles/mixed doubles team (celebrity or pro)?

Sophie: James Greenhalgh! Just kidding, I love Ben Shelton.

If you could spend a week with a professional player and their team, who would it be and why?

Sophie: Coco Gauff, because she’s come a long way, and she is only two years older than me, so it’d be cool to see how her team works!
