How would you describe your coaching style and the way you connect with your players?
Peter: My coaching style focuses on building relationships with the players, I think that’s kind of a fundamental thing. Because if you get that part right, the rest of it falls into place. The most important thing for me is to have that connection.
If you could have a theme song play every time you walk onto the court, what would it be?
Peter: Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
What is a highlight of your coaching journey so far?
Peter: Completing my ITF Level 2 last year. And recognizing that we are always learning, which is very important. And I enjoy being able to learn from what other people do through shared experiences in a team environment.
What do you like the most about being a part of the Tennis Life team?
Peter: I like being able to work with a group of coaches, which allows us to learn from each other constantly. And we have a good bunch of happy people that come through our programme, parents, kids, adult players, all great people!
When you're not on court, what's something you like to do in your spare time?
Peter: I do a fair bit of running, which helps me keep fit and it’s a nice way to start the day.
Who would be in your dream doubles/mixed doubles team (celebrity or pro)?
Peter: Serena Williams & Roger Federer
If you could spend a week with a professional player and their team, who would it be and why?
Peter: Novak Djokovich, because out of all the players even as he got older he is always looking for ways to improve, and sometimes the better you get the harder it is to be committed to that. He’s always looking for improvement in everything he does, and so I think that’s probably why even at his current age he still able to be competitive. He is able to put all the trophies and wins aside and just go how can I get better. So I think it would be interesting to just be like a fly on the wall and see how his teams works on a day to day basis.
